OFFICIAL LAUNCH (JEP 2003)

This year the European Heritage Days 2003 will be launched in the Republic of Ireland. The launch will take place from 5 - 7 September in Dublin and at Glendalough, County Wicklow, a 6th century monastic site.

On Friday 5 September there will be a co-ordinators forum followed by a reception in the Coach House, Dublin Castle. On Saturday 6 September there will be a conference, which will explore common religious themes in Europe. The official opening will take place in Glendalough Monastic site later that day. In addition there will be a special day of historical re-enactments recreating the life of the monastery. This event will be open to the public. The official opening ceremonies will end with an informal reception in The Great Hall in 'Dublinia at Christ Church' which houses an exhibition on medieval Dublin.

In the Republic of Ireland the EHD is celebrated with a full week of events and activities and on Sunday 7 September there will be special events and excursions to mark the launch of the week.
